The vineyard day: forty ratings, four written reviews, and a price for the whole group
All four written reviews, in full
Four out of forty is not many, so there is no point summarising them. Here they are. Between them they name four people, describe two very hot days and record one train that arrived late.
What four reviews can and cannot settle
They can settle that the operator bends when a train is late, because one of the four says so in detail. They can settle that the walking is light: two separate reviewers describe a hot day handled by adapting the route rather than by pushing through it. They cannot settle anything about a wet day, an autumn day or a full group of twelve, because nobody has written about one.
The last review is the one to read if you are doing the arithmetic. Sarah recommends it for small groups of friends or for couples, and a couple booking a group of up to twelve pays the group figure. Filling the twelve is what makes this listing make sense, and it is the same logic as the private walk and the night watchman, the other two per-group listings on this site.
What works
- Three hours with five tastings, pastries and glasses to keep
- Named guides in three of the four reviews
- Two reviewers describe a hot day handled well, one a late train accommodated
- The vineyards themselves, which the shorter cellar tour does not include
Worth knowing
- Priced for a group of up to twelve, not per person
- Four written reviews out of forty ratings is a thin written record
- The winery is in the town; it is not the Hofkeller under the Residence
- No account exists of a wet day or of a full group of twelve

One hour, one glassWürzburg: Brückenschoppen (guided tour with wine)
The shorter cellar tour at the same winery is priced per person and is reviewed here. The old town walk with three wines on the bridge is per person too. The Brückenschoppen is the shortest way to end up with a glass on the Alte Mainbrücke, and it has no written reviews at all, which is why it has no page here.
Frequently asked questions
Is the vineyard tour priced per person?
No. The listing price covers a group of up to twelve people. Three of the twelve listings on this site are priced per group rather than per head, and they sit beside the per-person ones on every tour we list.
Does the vineyard tour visit the cellar under the Residence?
No. It is at a family winery in the town, the same one as the shorter trio tasting. The Staatlicher Hofkeller under the palace is not bookable through GetYourGuide at all, which is explained on the cellar under the palace.
What happens if your train is late?
One reviewer’s train was late and the guide rearranged things so that the wine tour still happened. That is one account rather than a policy, and the way to be sure is to tell the operator before the day rather than on it.
