Affiliate disclosure
Würzburg Residenz takes part in the GetYourGuide affiliate programme. Book a tour through a link or a booking widget on this site and GetYourGuide pays me a small commission. You pay exactly what you would have paid going to them directly — the commission comes out of their end, not yours.
Which links these are
Every tour card, every “check availability” button and every booking widget on the site. They carry my partner tag and they open on GetYourGuide, which is where the booking is made and where your money goes. The links to the Bavarian Palace Administration and to the Staatlicher Hofkeller are not affiliate links and earn me nothing. They are there because that is where those tickets are actually sold.
What no commission here can buy you
The state ticket to the staterooms, which is the thing most readers of this site came for. It is sold by the palace, it costs about ten euros for an adult, everyone under 18 goes in free, and it already entitles you to join a guided tour. I earn nothing on it. I earn nothing on the Court Church or the Court Garden either, because they are free, and nothing on the Martin von Wagner Museum in the south wing, for the same reason. Nothing bookable through this site goes into the Staatlicher Hofkeller under the palace.
Exactly one of the twelve listings I carry includes entry to the Residence, and it runs in winter. If that sounds like an odd thing to advertise on a disclosure page, it is the reason this one is worth reading: the most valuable thing on this site to a visitor is a cheap ticket I make no money from.
How it affects what I write
It has not stopped me writing that the most-reviewed listing in the catalogue never stops in Würzburg, that two listings have no written reviews at all, or that three of the twelve are priced per group rather than per person. All of that is on the reviews page and on every tour we list. A recommendation I would not give a visitor standing in front of me is worth less than the commission on it.
